Commencing Unclitude
My sister had a Caesarian this evening, and is recovering in hospital for the next few days.
In related news, there is now an Alexander!

This being-an-uncle thing may take some getting used to :-)

As mentioned Blue Meanies report a strange foot-off-the-ground- floating sensation and the wonders of being soon to hold your first grandchild.*beams*

P.s: its easy. Bathing is fun... do that. Uncles must give lots of spoilage and shower young persons in training with the funnies. Thats all.

Good to see you're internet-capable again :-) I shall hopefully come visit soon once I'm not quite so coldy and sneezy. I'd rather not be introduced as Uncle Plaguebringer...

Sorry, hang on a minute - do you have more than one sister or am I MUCH further out of touch with NZ goings-on than I thought???

Also, congratulations. :D

I only have the one sister. And she and Captain now have one of these:

That's what I thought!

Unbelievable.

HOW could I have missed hearing that this was coming? She'd have been well on the way even before I left!

Anyway, I left a message on Captain's LJ - thanks for that.

Anyway, how are you? What are you up to at the moment?

Lots of busy - haven't had time to collect thoughts and post properly, yet. In short: thesis finally printed nicely and bound, I've given lectures in EDUC122 and COSC438 and helped out with in-class demonstrations and workshops for ENGL242, I'm doing 20-25+ hours a week in town as a software engineer, tutoring 4+ hours a week at uni.

Lots of stuff going on all over the place :-)

Well, no.
I'm sure that if I was, even I would have clicked before now!

Nonetheless, there was a fair amount of mutual LCR hanging-out that went on, in the year before I left, so I can't believe I missed this.

Myabe I'm just dense. ;D

Looks like they put him in some kind of plastic structure that will make him a little less of a threat to the snakes.

Well... I was about to die and he was just healthy and damed fine until he was hit by the general anaesthetic... he was all floppy when they pulled him out but he seems okay now. Touch of jaundice though... doesn't help that I couldn't feed him properly because of the complications of the toxic shock.

I'll try and figure out how to pencil snake wrestling into next weeks' time table.

Eek!

It's probably better if the snake wrestling happens organically :)

I hope everything's going okay now?

Much happiness.

For help with being an uncle, my family worked it out well. An uncle's job is to buy the noisiest Christmas or Birthday present possible. My drums may be for sale soon :)

Congratulations from us both, and yes your job is to buy the noisiest toys that you can, and get them completely hyperactive and then pass back to mum and dad :) In saying that if anyone does that to us in 4 months i will send them running :)
Hugs

Yay, I have another brother! Ok, so this one's a real son, instead of someone who just "adopted" her as his mum :)
Give her a hug and congrats from me!
